History Compass: A Guide to Historical Thinking, Research, and Writing

Grades 9 to 12

History Compass is an exploration of critical thinking and expression. In this course, students will look at how historians approach research and draw conclusions, learn to examine and evaluate evidence, search for diverse perspectives, use different kinds of sources, and create meaningful essays and projects.  Used on its own or as a foundation for the History Odyssey series, Compass will help your student become a historian, contributing to the story of our past and present. 

History Odyssey Ancients

Grades 5 to 8

In History Odyssey Ancients, students will explore the key events, achievements, and cultures that shaped the world between approximately 6,000 BCE to 500 CE—from the rise of earliest civilizations to the fall of Rome.

History Odyssey Middle Ages

Grades 6 to 9

History Odyssey Middle Ages covers important events from approximately 250 CE to the mid-16th century, incorporating history with literature and world geography to give students an in-depth look at the people, places, empires of this time period.

History Odyssey Early Modern

Grades 6 to 10

Organized into two focused units, History Odyssey Early Modern covers the major upheavals and events that occurred between 1600 to 1850 CE—including the start of the slave trade, rebellions and revolutions, Japanese isolationism, the formation of the United States, and more.

History Odyssey Modern Times

Grades 7 to 12

Aimed at older students, History Odyssey Modern Times covers the significant world events from 1850 CE to present time—from the decline of the Ottoman Empire to the World Wars, Cold War, civil rights movement, and more. This course also comes with a Teacher Guide that provides additional resources.
