Meet the Pandia Team
Kate Johnson
CEO & Publisher
Kate Johnson founded Pandia Press over 20 years ago, becoming the first publisher to provide secular curriculum for homeschooling. Under her leadership, the Pandia Team has become a leader in rigorous and alternative education, specializing in Science, World History, United States History, and Literature curricula. As CEO and Publisher, Kate guides Pandia Press through the evolving educational landscape, ensuring it remains true to its mission of providing engaging, rigorous, accurate, and inclusive learning materials.
Kate graduated from the University in Florida with degrees in health science and education. After a decade of experience as a rehab director, she left the field to prioritize her children's education. Kate has been a homeschooling mother since her oldest, now a college graduate, was in Kindergarten. Recognizing a significant need for quality, secular materials in the homeschool community, Kate has dedicated her career to publishing innovative K-12 curriculum.

Charlene Rucker
Customer Service Manager
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Entomology from the University of Kentucky, Charlene Rucker was a field biologist working on invasive species for the State of Michigan. She homeschooled her two children and came across Pandia Press curriculum early on and found that it fit perfectly with the academically focused and hands on way she wanted to educate her children.
Charlene has been the customer service specialist for Pandia Press since 2020. She enjoys working with families and educators to find the products that work best for each individual situation and helping out parents and teachers going through their educational journey.
She currently resides in Michigan with her husband, two children, two cats, and a dog. She is very active in her theatre community, directing (and sometimes performing in) musicals, plays, and Shakespeare in the Park for her local high school and multiple community theatre groups.
Marta Pentecost
Lead Editor
Marta was born in Portugal and has lived in the United States since before she can remember. She studied at the University of Denver and received a BA in chemistry and English language and literature and an MA in English literature. After graduating, she worked for fifteen years in the publishing industry, amassing experience in trade books, college textbooks, and educational software. She has worked in sales, editorial, project management, and acquisitions positions and finds her passion to be shepherding a book project from conception to publication. She is excited to be part of the Pandia staff, creating academically rigorous materials for homeschool parents and charter schools.
Marta lives in Colorado with her engineer husband, two rambunctious sons, and lazy English mastiff mix. She loves to read (of course), do yoga, dance, hike, and glamp with her family.
Amelia Ostrowski
Curriculum Developer & Editor
Amelia earned her BA in English and Psychology and her BS in Biology from Walsh University. She holds a Master of Arts in Literature with a Certificate in Composition from The University of Akron. She is currently working on her PhD in Education with a focus on English education. Before joining Pandia Press in 2020, Amelia taught composition at a university for ten years, with courses ranging from dual enrollment classes for high school students to developmental writing. As much as she enjoyed working with students, it had always been her goal to work as an editor, and she is thrilled to be part of the Pandia team.
Amelia resides in Ohio, where she is a homeschool parent to five active kids. She discovered Pandia when searching for inspiring history and science curriculum for her oldest, who is now in college. Amelia enjoys reading, running, gardening, and hiking with her husband and children.
